Wider Curriculum Entitlement
Sixth Formers at Grace Academy are constantly encouraged to take advantage of a wide range of opportunities which enhance the work within their chosen courses. Variety, opportunity and quality are distinctive features of the curriculum offered to all students at the Grace Academy Sixth Form. A wide programme of activities and events ensures that students fulfil their potential – intellectually, personally and socially.

Enrichment
Every Sixth Form student has the opportunity to participate in a timetabled session of enrichment activities. Students can use this session to gain further qualifications in Microsoft Office, CSLA and First Aid. Additionally students have the opportunity to learn a language, musical instrument or spend time relaxing in yoga classes.

Educational Visits
Visits are an exciting part of many courses here at Grace Academy Sixth Form. English students attend lectures, seminars or workshops related to their texts, often at local universities as well as making theatre visits. Psychology and Sociology students attend university style revision lectures. Students involved in sport courses attend and assist in the organisation of local sporting events. Also our Health and Social care students regularly visit our local primary schools and nurseries in order to carry out particular levels of research and analysis.

Business and Enterprise
Grace Academy is a specialist Business and Enterprise school and our Sixth Form students are encouraged to participate in the programme of ‘Business Days’ which occur throughout the academic year. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their enterprising skills and work with younger students in the school on a number of projects.

Work Experience
Here at Grace Academy Sixth Form we have a fantastic sponsor who is keen to work with our Sixth Form students. A number of our Sixth Form students are offered internships which allow them to participate in paid work during their school holidays. The level of work undertaken is extremely demanding but there is an opportunity to gain a full time position once the student has completed their course of study.

Higher Education and Careers Advice
The future of Grace Academy Sixth Form students is vitally important to all of us here. To inform and guide students on their chosen career paths professional advice is available from our Aim Higher coordinator, Connexions, the Head of Sixth Form, the Head of Careers and student’s personal tutors.
University and college applications are supported by a thorough programme of advice with prospectuses and information booklets which are freely available in the Sixth Form area of the Learn Centre. To help students choose the establishment that best suits their needs, Higher Education UCAS guides are available for guidance and use.
Opportunities to hear speakers from, and make visits to, institutions of Higher Education are available every year. Organised visits are made to open days at local universities including Aston, Birmingham and Coventry.
Students starting directly on their working careers can benefit from our links with our Business sponsors. Visits to local businesses and companies are available every year. Additionally Grace Academy Sixth Form works very closely with the local Connexions office. To help students make an informed choice we offer personal guidance and a careers library that hold specific and detailed information.

Sport and Recreation
Sport and recreation is available to all students and could include: joining one of the team squads for football, rugby and athletics. Sixth Form students can also join the boxing club which is held weekly here at the school. Students can also take advantage of the new weight training facilities and fitness room.
Students with a particular talent in performing arts can be part of numerous shows which are held at regular intervals during the year.

Social Activities
The Sixth Form at Grace Academy is a lively, active community which, because of its reasonable size can offer leadership opportunities to a range of individuals. Sixth Form students have their own common room and constant access to facilities providing refreshments. Sixth Form students are part of Grace Academy’s student voice and through this have an opportunity to impact change on the Sixth Form and whole Academy. A variety of social, charity and sporting events are organised throughout the year, including the Year 12 Celebration Evening and Year 13 Annual Leavers Ball.
